Formerly available as 150-143/243/343/443. Students who have completed 150-143/243/343/443 are not eligible to enrol in this subject. Students commencing a major in Hebrew studies with this subject must also complete 109-130 Introduction to Modern Jewish Culture at first year.

109-132 Hebrew 2B and a corequisite cultural subject or VCE Hebrew or an approved equivalent.

This subject involves the study of modern Hebrew literary texts and modern conversational idiom and grammar. Students should gain an enriched knowledge of the language through the use of modern Hebrew literature, and of the modern idiom spoken in Israel today, including its vocabulary, grammar and syntax. The subject should prepare students for a broader ranger of expertise.

Written work of 1000 words, aural/oral testing equivalent to 1000 words, a 2-hour examination, and class participation.
