Subject Description | Students will learn the basics of the different types of editing - copy, structural, acquisition, production. You will learn the terminology/jargon associated and used in editing/publishing, become familiar with proof reading and copy mark-up symbols and conventions. You will follow a manuscript from acquisition, through the various phases of structural editing, copy editing, design and typsesetting mark-up, to production of the final book itself. You will learn to edit each others work (both fiction and non-fiction) and will also be expected to participate in work experience through a publishing industry placement for a minimum of five days during the course of the semester. |
