Available to second year or post-second year students who have passed, with an H3 or better, in another romance language, such as Spanish 1 or 2, or an equivalent approved by the subject coordinator.

A 1-hour lecture and three hours of practical language classes per week

Subject Description

This subject is a practical introduction to the Portuguese language and to Portuguese and Brazilian culture. Students will acquire the language through a range of activities including language laboratory exercises, computer-aided tasks, role-play in small groups and the study of a wide spectrum of audio, video and written materials.

Assessment

Aural comprehension and transcription exercises, reading performance and comprehension, oral production, written exercises, and a 2-hour written exam.
