Subject Description | This subject is an introduction to the historical, political, and cultural realities of Latin America. Attention will focus on such topics as the problematical relations between history, testimony and fiction; relations between Latin American countries and zones; the United States, Europe and other relevant areas; and class, race and gender issues. In relation to these facets of Latin America, a range of written and audio-visual material will be studied. |
Assessment | Class participation, one 15-minute oral presentation, and written work equivalent to 4000 words. Third year students will be expected to show a greater achievement of discipline specific skills in their written work, and will give a longer presentation. |
