Subject Description | This subject forms an introduction to the history of the Church from the 2nd to the 15th centuries. Topics will include the spread of Christianity; the apostolic tradition; Church-state relations; heresy, dissent and schism; Constantine and the 'Triumph of Christianity'; monasticism; the rise of the Papacy; Christian society; the Medieval Church; and Wycliffe and Hus. |
Assessment | Two 500-word document exercises, an essay of 1500 words and a 2-hour examination. |
