Subject Description | The objective of this subject is to develop students' understanding of the processes required, and to develop the ability and skills required to start up a new agriculture, or agriculturally related business venture. The content includes developing creative and innovative thinking skills in order to initiate ideas for new business ventures; recognising and analysing business opportunities; researching the market; establishing appropriate business structures, legal and taxation considerations; financial aspects including methods of funding and venture capital; business ethics; industrial relations; trade practices legislation; preparing a business plan, risk analysis; managing the start up phase, planning and budgeting; and organisation and management to control the business. |
Assessment | 2-hour examination (50%), 500-1000 word assignment (10%), assignment (3000-5000 words, 40%. Includes oral component.). |
