Subject Description | This subject has been designed for students who wish to experience and gain an understanding of some of Australias unique wilderness environments. The educational context for much of this subject will be on field trips in natural settings. Topics studied in lectures and in seminars in the field include historical perspectives on the relationship between humans and nature; the contributions of education to learning about and understanding the natural environment; psycho-evolutionary theory; the nature of wilderness and its influence on human behaviour; and aesthetic responses to the natural world. |
Assessment | A class paper presented orally (10%); written work not exceeding 4000 words (90%). |
