Subject Description

This subject is an examination of theoretical and empirical studies of decision-making in criminal justice; the idea of discretion and the control of discretionary judgements; and an introduction to techniques appropriate to the study of decision-making. Students who complete the subject should understand the major criminological studies of decision-making and be able to apply these studies to the operation of the criminal justice system.
