Subject Description	The aim of this subject is to provide a broad survey and introduction to the major institutions of criminal justice, to discuss the key players and operation of state agencies in responding to (and creating) offensive behaviour, and to consider the strengths and weaknesses of existing forms and methods of crime control in Australia. It provides an examination of the roles, objectives and methods of institutions such as the police, the courts, prisons, community crime prevention and victim services.
Assessment	An essay of 2000 words and a 2-hour examination.
