Subject Description

This subject is an introduction to the origins and history of English and the structure of English grammar. Students should develop skills for describing and analysing the English language and an understanding of Australian English, accents of English, dialectal and stylistic variation, and Pidgins and Creoles.

Assessment

Two assignments totalling 2000 words, and a 2-hour examination.
