Subject Description | This subject is a survey of the philosophy of language in the 20th century and its antecedents, aiming at a description of the main trends, their ambitions, and the difficulties associated with them. Students of the subject should attain a broad knowledge of these trends, and be in a position to study them in further detail either within philosophy, or in related fields such as anthropology or linguistics. |
