Subject Description | This subject will examine American society and culture since the 1960s, focusing on race, gender and class. Topics studied will include American approaches to law enforcement, the effect of globalisation on American workers, and the current state of American schools. The subject aims to give students some critical and contextual understanding of current debates about the present and future of United States' society and cultures. Students should also develop an understanding of the specificity of American debates about race, class and gender-based inequalities. |
Assessment | Class participation and written work totalling 4000 words. |
