Subject Description

Apart from the background lecture on contemporary German, this subject is text based and drills students' ability to speak, read and write German while also contributing to the extension of both their active and passive vocabularies. On completion of the subject students should have the vocabulary for a moderate level of complexity in speaking, aural understanding, reading and writing of German and a level of competency required for admittance into 126-008 Intermediate German C and 126-009 Intermediate German D.

Assessment

A 3-hour examination, an aural examination equivalent to 400 words, a 10-minute oral examination, and weekly vocabulary tests totalling 600 words.
