Subject Description

This subject is an introduction to spoken and written German for students with little or no knowledge of German. During the subject students will be introduced to the basic spoken language and some of the grammatical structures of the German language and should develop the capacity to apply these principles in speech and writing. Students should develop the ability to read and evaluate a small range of German texts and achieve the level of language competency required for admittance into 126-003 Beginners German C and 126-004 Beginners German D.

Assessment

A 3-hour examination, short weekly assignments and fortnightly vocabulary tests equivalent to 1000 words. Students need to attend at least 80% of the classes to be admitted to the examination.
