Subject Description | This subject will focus on a number of texts in contemporary Italian, to acquaint students with some of the main non-literary registers (e.g. journalistic, bureaucratic etc.). There will be emphasis on advanced non-literary translation. On completion of this subject, students should have refined their linguistic skills, both written and oral; have become acquainted with the notion of linguistic function; and have acquired the ability to discuss in Italian, both orally and in writing, extended texts, literary and non-literary. |
Assessment | Take-home assignments totalling 1000 words, a 15-minute class paper, one hour of written tests, a 15-minute oral test and a 1000-word composition in Italian. |
