Prerequisites	110-107 Japanese 4A or equivalent. New students who have had some prior experience with the language may not enrol unless they have taken a placement test in the week preceding the first week of semester.

Contact	Four hours of language classes per week
Subject Description	The format of the subject is the same as 110-107 Japanese 4A. A further 300 Chinese characters will be covered. More focus will be on Japanese culture-specific social events and news. Classes will be conducted principally in Japanese.
Assessment	Assignments and quizzes totalling 1000 words, and a 2-hour examination, and a 20-minute oral/aural perception test. Extra written work totalling 1000 words for 4th year. Students are required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take examinations.
Prescribed Texts	Materials will be available from the institute.
