Prerequisites | 110-105 Japanese 3B Core and 110-106 Japanese 3B-IT or equivalent. New students who have had some prior experience with the language may not enrol unless they have taken a placement test in the week preceding the first week of semester. |

Subject Description | This subject covers four areas: reading comprehension, translation, composition, and oral/aural practice. Three hundred Chinese characters will be introduced. Authentic texts will be used as teaching and learning materials and classes will be conducted principally in Japanese. |
Assessment | Assignments and quizzes totalling 1000 words, and a 2-hour examination, and a 20-minute oral test. Extra written work totalling 1000 words for fourth year. Students are required to attend a minimum of 70% of all classes in order to be eligible to take examinations. |
