Subject Description

This subject investigates some aspects of post-1976 Chinese society which are of specific relevance for our understanding of China today. Students should gain familiarity with some major cultural and social struggles taking place in China over the last three decades and the attempts by Chinese and non-Chinese people to depict and analyse these phenomena.

Assessment

Tutorial participation, written work totalling 2000 words, and a 2-hour examination.
