110-040 Standard Chinese 2B, or VCE Chinese plus knowledge of a Chinese dialect or the equivalent. New students may not enrol unless they have attended an interview and/or placement test in the week preceding the first week of semester.

Subject Description

This is an advanced subject in Chinese language and literature for students who are literate in Chinese. On completion of the subject students should have some knowledge of modern Chinese literature, be familiar with Chinese current affairs and be able to write Modern Standard Chinese in an acceptable style.

Assessment

Class participation, a 2-hour examination, a 10-minute oral examination and written assignments totalling 1500 words.
