110-039 Standard Chinese 2A or equivalent. New students may not enrol unless they have attended an interview and/or placement test in the week preceding the first week of semester.

This subject involves advanced spoken and written Chinese for students who have completed 110-039 Standard Chinese 2A. By the conclusion of this subject students should be able to read independently a variety of original Chinese materials and to conduct discussions in Chinese on social and cultural issues.

Class participation, a 10-minute oral examination, a 2-hour examination and written work totalling 2000 words.
