Subject Description

This subject provides an introduction to the contemporary Korean language, with special emphasis on spoken language. Introduction to written Korean and the Korean alphabet will be delivered on-line. The subject focuses on the development of basic communicative competence in the Korean language. Topics include communicating in basic daily life situations, such as describing things, comparing, and requesting. Students will learn to read and comprehend contextually constrained simple texts and to write most sentences that they produce orally. In the computer lab class they will learn how to send email in Korean.

Assessment

A 2-hour exam, four 5-minute listening tests, a 10-minute oral test, three homework writing tasks and three web tasks.
