The subject has five major components: The 'nuts and bolts' of line editing in which questions of style, grammar, punctuation, and paragraphing will be explored through lectures and workshop excercises; copy editing and proofing; the text - generic conventions and departures, and structural editing; the book - concept, design and market; and ethics - questions of misrepresentation, libel and plagiarism.
