4. Community Access Program (CAP)
The Community Access Program (CAP) allows students and members of the general public to sample arts subjects without being enrolled in a formal degree. It offers an initial arts experience if you are considering further study in the Faculty of Arts.
The program makes individual subjects available for assessed or non-assessed study. Assessed CAP students undertake the same subject workload and assessment as award course students and receive a formal academic record of their study. Non-assessed CAP students attend lectures and follow subject reading programs.
While most arts subjects are available to CAP students, prerequisites apply for subjects beyond first year level.
Fees for CAP subjects are charged up-front. Although neither HECS nor AUSTUDY apply to CAP, bursaries are available towards the cost of 'assessed' CAP subjects in arts, and individual students are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications are available at the Faculty of Arts office. They may be lodged up until the commencement of the proposed semester of study.
All enquiries should be directed to the faculty's CAP Officer, who is located in Room 102, Old Arts Building.
