Subject Description

In this subject selected works by Greek-Australian writers are studied from the point of view of their themes, style, genre, social context and issues of identity, language and ethnicity. The role of tradition, literary criticism, canon-formation and publishing opportunities in the development of Greek-Australian writings will also be explored. Students should complete the subject with an ability to analyse, interpret and discuss the work of a range of Greek-Australian writers in an informed and critical manner.

Assessment

Written work and class tests totalling 4000 words for third year, 5000 words for fourth year, and class participation at third year.
