A 1-hour lecture and a 2-hour practical language class per week

Subject Description

In this subject students should become familiarised with the theory and practice of translation of business and administrative documents from English into Greek and vice versa. Examples of translation are analysed, techniques and resources available to translators explored, and relevant aspects of Greek and Australian society studied. The subject involves extensive practice at translation, and in the process, advanced Greek grammar and the relevant registers of Greek usage are introduced.

Assessment

Written work and class tests totalling 4000 words for third year, 5000 words for fourth year, and class participation at third year.
