Subject Description

The objective of this subject is to extend participants' ability to:

  • appreciate the range of graphic materials and methods used in producing landscape drawings and recommend their uses;

  • demonstrate basic competency in the use of the more common drawing tools and graphic media;

  • measure a site and produce a scale drawing of it;

  • prepare a series of drawings appropriate for a residential or small scale public or commercial landscape design; and

  • present a design proposal to a client.

The topics to be covered in this subject include drawings associated with the design process, drawing standards practised in the landscape industry, types of landscape plans, elevation, section, axonometric views, line quality and lettering, standard symbols and working drawings, colour media and presentation methods.

Assessment

Portfolio exercise (50%), residential site (40%), portfolio assessment (10%).
