Subject Description

The objective of this subject is to enable students to develop skills and knowledge in relation to investment and finance as they apply in the agriculture/farm business.

The content includes investment concepts (growth, income, gearing; investment decisions under risk and uncertainty), contracts, marketing strategies, diversification, insurance, futures; ownership and acquisition; alternatives to land ownership; investment finance; rural valuation principles; rural land purchases; and outside enterprise investment.

Assessment

Internal students: two assignments of 2000 words (30% each); 3-hour test (40%). External students: two assignments of 3000 words each (50% each).
