Subject Description | The objective of this subject is to enable students to:
The content includes water supply potential for the development of agricultural enterprises including considerations on quantity and quality; hydrology and water harvesting systems, sources of water supply including stream diversions, farm dams, irrigation district operation and groundwater utilisation; basic principles of hydraulics; water distribution systems for farm water supply wastewater re-use and irrigation development, scheduling supply, soil-water interaction, distribution networks, methods of application; water resources management and planning, allocation of resources; environmental and energy-use implications of water and wastewater resource utilisation and development; and wastewater and solid waste characteristics, pollution, water treatment. |
Assessment | 2-hour examination (60%); project report of 3000 words (40%). |
