Subject Description | Continuing from 740-138 Discovering Music 1, this subject examines western music since 1800, in both its artistic and technical dimensions and continues the development of aural and analytical skills. By the end of semester students should be able to read, notate and recognise aurally simple melodies and basic diatonic progressions, melodies and intervals and to discuss the principal movements in western musical history from 1800 to the present, and recognise their characteristics. |
Assessment | Written assignments and regular tests in listening and writing equivalent to 4000 words. |
