Subject Description

This subject explores the processes and skills involved in planning transport and land use in pursuit of environmentally sustainable and socially equitable outcomes. Studio-based work will provide an opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired. Three principal aspects of transport planning will be explored: 1. Planning and operation of urban public transport; 2. Designing pedestrian- and public transport-friendly urban spaces, especially 'district centres'; 3. Preparation and evaluation of regional transport plans and major infrastructure plans; 4. Preparation of local and regional travel demand management strategies. Students will have opportunity to specialise in one or more of these areas.

Assessment

Individual and group work equivalent to not more than 6000 words.
