Subject Description | The subject examines the relationship between construction methods and resources such as plant, equipment and labour. Planning and equipment for site excavation, use of bentonite. Types and methods of underpinning and shoring to building excavations. Scaffolding and temporary site structures. Temporary power. Man hoists. Plant. Cranes and their deployment. Concrete pumps. The design and detailing of formwork systems including Lubeka formwork. Safety and statutory regulations of construction plant. |
Assessment | One 2-hour examination paper written and drawn assignments equivalent to not more than 6000 words. |
