Subject Description | The subject focuses on issues effecting the management of construction at the site level. Construction project planning techniques and resource management systems are introduced. The subject assumes prior understanding of manual scheduling techniques. An overview to the issues effecting the efficient use of resources such as labour, materials, plant and equipment is provided and techniques to improve labour productivity such as work study, activity sampling, incentive payment systems are presented. Contractor's cost control, industrial relations and quality assurance are also examined. Computer based techniques of time management are introduced and students carry out computer calculation of project networks of at least 30 activities. |
Assessment | One 2-hour examination (50%). Tutorial exercises and assignments (50%). |
