Subject Description | Aspects of the following topics will be considered: aspects of data transmission (synchronous and asynchronous transmission, error detection and correction, and compression) and local and wide area networks (architectures, protocols, and issues); organisational options (data and telecommunications architectures, protocols, in-house networks, out-sourcing); and other telecommunications concepts and business applications. At the completion of this subject, students should:

Assessment | A 3-hour end-of-semester written examination, 40 hours of individual and group project work. The weighting of the assessment components will be announced at the commencement of the subject. |
