Subject Description | This subject provides students with an opportunity to implement skills gained during Research Methods 1 and 2 and introduces students to evidence based practice (EBP). In brief, students must design, conduct and write up two single subject studies of patients they treat during their fourth year clinical placements and complete an assignment on EBP in the theory block. The single subject component of Research Methods 3 is designed to help students comprehend the value of objective measurement in clinical practice, the importance of selecting a valid assessment tool and the necessity for careful planning prior to the execution of a research project. Students will also further develop their skills in objective clinical measurement and in written scientific communication. The evidence based practice component introduces students to this rapidly growing clinical movement and provides experience in searching for and evaluation of evidence. |
Assessment | Three assignments must be submitted. Students must submit all three assignments in order to receive a pass grade. |
