Subject Description

This subject focuses on the administration of local anaesthesia, clinical photography and other imaging techniques. Topics include special areas in dentistry.

On completion of this subject, the student should:

  • comprehend the philosophy of total oral health care for each patient; and the interaction of dental auxiliary care with general and speciality care in the overall treatment plan for the individual; and

  • have developed skills in working as a member of a comprehensive health team; administration of local analgesia, clinical photography and other imaging techniques.

Assessment

(1) One 3-hour written examination at the end of Semester 1; and (2) written assignments and practical tests throughout the year. A pass is required in each of (1) and (2) for an overall pass in the subject.
