Subject Description

This subject introduces mathematical ideas and techniques that are used in advanced economics. These include topology, real analysis, convex programming, dynamic programming and control theory. These techniques are applied to problems in general equilibrium theory and game theory (prior knowledge of these topics is not assumed). This subject is designed for students with an aptitude for mathematics.

Assessment

A 3-hour end-of-semester examination (80%) and class assignments equivalent to approximately 3000 words (20%).
