Subject Description

This subject examines some topic or topics of interest in current philosophical debate, in the general area of metaphysics or epistemology, through the medium of selected recent monographs and journal articles. Topics might include, for example, the idea of the transcendental in post-Kantian philosophy; the relation between ethics and metaphysics; and truth, reason and reality. Students of the subject should attain detailed knowledge of the ideas operative in the topics selected for study, and of the background and context necessary for their evaluation.

Assessment

Written work totalling 5000 words.
