Subject Description

Students will gain insights into how to bridge the gap between study and the workplace. They will complete a 12-week work placement supervised by instructors and at the same time will study key features of contemporary employment and project management. Students will be introduced to concepts of career management, working within organisations, and the basics of consultancy work. The importance of project management in the contemporary workplace will be stressed. In their work placements students will apply knowledge gained in the subject content, and learn to recognise and apply their transferable skills. Work-related oral and written communication, IT and team skills will be fostered by practice, combined with self-reflection and constructive feedback. On completion of the subject, students will have knowledge of current labour market demands and have developed skills which will make them productive in the workplace.
