This subject does not presuppose knowledge of Indonesian. Some knowledge of contemporary Indonesia is advantageous.

Subject Description

This subject should enable students to understand critically the functioning of contemporary Indonesian society. In the first half of the subject there are lectures and seminars on contemporary Indonesian politics, economics and culture. In the second half of the subject important current events in Indonesia will be discussed.

Assessment

Written work totalling 2000 words and a 2-hour examination.
