Subject Description

This subject is made up of three parts: language, which includes the development of intermediate reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in the Polish language, as well as the language of business and the professions will also be studied on the basis of modern texts; literature and society, which forms an introduction to major literary, social and developments in Poland between 1945 and 1980, including the study of Polish drama, theatre, as well as Polish film (selected literary texts of the period will also be studied in Polish); and the Slavic culture core, which is an introduction to the major cultural and social issues confronting Poland and other Slavic and East European countries in the 20th century.

Assessment

Literature and society: a 2000 word essay, a 10-minute class paper and a 2-hour comparative cultural studies test; language: written exercises equivalent to 1000 words and a 1-hour language test.
