Subject Description

In this subject students' ability to use Modern Greek in professional and academic contexts is enhanced by studying material such as: professional, academic and scientific literature, broadcasts, documentaries, and through practical application of the higher and technical registers of Modern Greek. Professional fields covered include: education, law, medicine, social services, science, engineering, trade, banking, accounting and tourism. Advanced Greek grammar, syntax and appropriate vocabulary is studied and practised. Linguistic skills will also be extended through projects developed and reported on in class, and involving interaction with the local Greek community.

Assessment

Regular assignments totalling 2000 words, a 1000 word project, a 2-hour written test, a 10-minute oral/aural test, and two 10-minute oral class presentations.
