Subject Description

This subject is designed to build upon a year's study of the grammar of Biblical Hebrew and introduce students to a range of texts in the Hebrew Bible from simple prose to poetry. More complex points of grammar will be discussed as they arise in the texts studied. Students should complete the subject with confidence in the translation of a variety of types of texts from the Hebrew Bible; an increase in their vocabulary; the ability to discuss more complex points of grammar and textual criticism; and a basic understanding of aspects of Hebrew poetry.
