Subject Description

This subject investigates the remarkable transformation of Korea in the post-Korean war era and the role of the state, big business and labour is considered in the process of industrialisation. Korean political practices and values are examined together with the political systems of the RoK and the DPRK, their relationship with each other, and substantive policy issues. Students who complete the subject should have an understanding of the political and economic development on the Korean peninsula since 1876.

Assessment

A 15-minute oral presentation, a 2000 word essay, and fortnightly assignments totalling 1500 words.
