Students must enrol in and complete both subjects at Swinburne University to receive credit at the University of Melbourne for this subject. Formerly available as 922-094 and 920-301. Students who have completed 922-094 and 920-301 are not eligible to enrol in this subject.

Subject Description

This subject is designed to extend students' range of language patterns, grammar and writing through the reading of texts relating to contemporary Korean society. Training in different writing styles will be given and a further 100 Chinese characters will be taught. Competence in the spoken language is extended through the reading of texts relating to contemporary Korean society and the exposure to aural comprehension texts. Emphasis is placed on further development of oral skills for an extended range of communicative situations and on the correct usage of different speech registers.

Assessment

Two 2-hour written examinations, two 10-minute listening examinations, two 5-minute oral examinations, and class performance.
