Subject Description

This subject introduces students to basic grammar patterns, reading, writing, conversation and aural comprehension. Using textbooks, tapes, videos, computer exercises and personal interaction, the classes take a comprehensive approach to learning language as it is spoken, read and written in Korean. The subject is designed to introduce students to the Korean language and to give them a secure command of its basic structures. Emphasis is placed on correct pronunciation, acquisition of vocabulary and the fundamentals of grammar.

Assessment

Two 2-hour written examinations, two 10-minute listening examinations, two 5-minute oral examinations, and class participation.
