Three hours of lectures, a 1-hour tutorial and a 1-hour practical language class per week

Subject Description

This subject considers the changes in Vietnamese language styles, society and literature in the period of increasing American influence, 1945-1975. On conclusion of the subject students should appreciate newer styles and structure in the Vietnamese language; have a good knowledge of more specialised language relating to particular occupations; and have an understanding of the impact of war and American influence on Vietnamese society and culture.

Assessment

An assignment of 2000 words, a book review of 1500 words, a 15-minute oral presentation, and a 3-hour examination. Students must attend at least 70% of classes to be eligible for assessment.
