Prerequisites

This subject assumes some knowledge of Modern Greek but without having attempted VCE Modern Greek. Students are required to sit a placement test and have the permission from the subject coordinator to enrol.

Subject Description

In this subject students discuss issues relating to contemporary Greek and Australian society in Greek, extending their vocabulary and knowledge of grammar as required. Oral and literacy skills are developed primarily through use of media reports, articles and film. On completion of the subject students should be able to discuss in Modern Greek their opinions on a range of basic issues relating to modern Greek culture and society in an informed and coherent manner.

Assessment

Regular assignments and class exercises totalling 1200 words, two 1-hour written tests, a 30-minute oral/aural test, and class participation.
