Subject Description

This subject constitutes a more advanced level practical introduction to the Portuguese language variety and to Brazilian and Portuguese culture. As in the case of 922-032 LaTrobe-2/3P1:Introductory Portuguese the student will acquire the language through a range of activities including language laboratory work, computer aided exercises, role play, pair work and through the study of Luso-Brazilian culture and society as represented in the cinema, television, radio and press of the Portuguese-speaking world. Students who complete this subject should be able to understand, speak and write Portuguese at an initial intermediate level, and have an intermediate level mastery of grammatical structures.

Assessment

Aural comprehension and transcription exercises, reading performance and comprehension, oral production, written exercises, an essay of 1500 words and a 2-hour exam.
