Subject Description

The objective of this subject is to extend the participant's ability to:

  • research and describe the production requirements for specified nursery crops;

  • perform propagation and production methods and techniques for specified nursery crops;

  • design, perform and evaluate nursery trials;

  • outline the operations of specialist nursery production enterprises.

The content includes: Specialist production enterprises, including hydroponics and advanced tree production, the design and evaluation of a plant growth trial, alternatives to chemical plant growth regulators, nursery crop research, plant production contracts.

Assessment

One examination of 30 minutes (20%); two assignments (2 x 40%).
