Subject Description

The objective of this subject is to extend the ability of participants to:

  • describe the culture and management of plant types of significance in large gardens and parks;

  • describe the selection of, maintenance and construction of major park hard or built landscape elements in the park environment;

  • describe irrigation systems and select the appropriate methods of water application for horticultural situations.

The content includes: Culture and maintenance of major plant groups, trees, shrubs, groundcover, annual bulb, herbaceous perennial plantings, marginal and aquatic plants, plants for interior design; The establishment and management of the built structures (paths, walls, fences, street furniture, signs); Irrigation systems for horticultural use in turf, parkland and large gardens.

Assessment

Examination 90 minutes (30%), assignments x 2 (40% + 30%).
